The Asylum released "Monster Island," its 2019 mockbuster, around the same period as "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". It's about a mysterious island called Monster Island. There, a monster lives. And the monster is, in some way, the island.


Because this movie is about an asylum, it has the same budget as a big kid’s meal but uses it sparingly. It is focused on a handful of human characters. All the scenes can be shot during lunch break on one set. The Asylum might not do so badly considering that (first post) this is a kaiju movie.
